The PREVENT Program will be augmented by a team of experts from across the country. Our current team of over 35 experts has extensive experience in training and consultation, is racially diverse, and includes behavioral and social scientists, health educators, epidemiologists, clinicians, community-based practitioners, and policy experts. These individuals come from academic research centers; national resource centers; professional organizations; government agencies; and community and faith-based organizations.
Steering Committee
PREVENT has a prestigous Steering Committee lead by Co-chairs from the State Territorial Injury Prevention Directors Association (STIPDA) and the Society for Advancement of Violence and Injury Research (SAVIR), the sponsoring organizations of the National Training Initiative for Injury and Violence Prevention (NTI), and with members who have extensive expereince in violence prevention as well as many who are CDC grantees:

The University of North Carolina Injury Prevention Research Center (UNC IPRC) is dedicated to building the field of injury prevention and control through a combination of interdisciplinary scholarly approaches to research, intervention and evaluation as well as through the training of researchers and practitioners.
The North Carolina Institute of Public Health (NCIPH) provides substantial expertise in technical assistance, consultation and continuing and executive education for public health professionals.
Center for Disease Control & Prevention, National Center for Injury Prevention & Control, Division of Violence Prevention is the funding source of this project.
