The evaluation plan of the PREVENT program will be multi-faceted and include measurement of the following four outcome areas in order to reach the overall goal of sustained reductions in violence-related morbidity and mortality.


Individual Change- improved knowledge, skills, attitudes, confidence and behaviors can be achieved through the following strategies:
use best evidence
evaluate effectively
partner effectively and strategically
network with others
attract funding to sustain programs
do primary prevention (preventing violence before it starts)

Organizational Change- producing more effective organizations can be achieved through the following strategies:
create more prevention programs
create better prevention programs
evaluate programs
integrate with community partners
create more sustainable programs
provide support for individual change
develop more effective partnerships

Agenda Change- raising the awareness and priority of violence prevention approaches and programs can be achieved through the following strategies:
share information across boundaries
develop new partnerships across boundaries
network with violence prevention leaders
disseminate training products and evaluation results

Sustainable Training Capacity- creating a sustainable training capacity can be achieved through the following strategies:
create a national pool of faculty and staff
develop and provide train-the-trainer materials
generate long-term revenue and grant support
